death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me, thy rod
and staff they comfort me.
Mother Anna Bell Heyward James was the daughter of
the late Eddie Heyward, Jr. and the late Florence Dun-
can Heyward. She was born October 23, 1948 in Hamp-
ton County, South Carolina.
At an early age, she was converted and joined Mt. Clair
Holiness Church in Scotia, South Carolina, where she
served as the Mother of the church until she couldn’t go.
She attended the public schools of Hampton County.
Later in life she returned to school for her high school
diploma.
She was united in holy wedlock to Charles John James
on April 1, 1968, with this union seven children were
born.
Mother James was an employee of the former Best Man-
ufacturing in Estill, SC for many years until it closed;
then she worked at Children’s Keeper in Varnville, SC
for four years until her health began to fail.
Our beloved Mother Anna Bell transitioned from earth
on December 29, 2019 at Hampton Regional Medical
Center in Varnville, SC. Her siblings who preceded her
in death are Cheryl Sanders, Alonzo Heyward, James
Heyward, Sr., Jerome Heyward, Isaiah Heyward and
Richard Heyward; grandmother the late Anna Bell
Frazier Heyward, her name sake.
To cherish fond memories are: her husband, Charles
John James, Garnett, SC; five sons, Ronald James, Au-
brey James, Sinclair James, Jerome (Aundrea) James,
Garnett, SC and Nathaniel (Julie) Lee, Tarbor, SC; three
daughters, Patricia James, Benita (Robert) Smoak, Gar-
nett, SC and Charlesetta James Estill, SC; two sisters-in
-law, Mary (Benjamin) Taylor, Queens, NY, and Carrie
Housey, Scotia, SC.

land, SC; four god-children, Dyron Johnson, Augusta, Ga,
Shyron Johnson, Stamford, CT, Travis Sanders, Estill, SC and
Tracy Sanders, Allendale, SC; Special grands, Rimontary (care
-taker), Xavier, Zion, Courtney, Roberta, Shaquala, Jasmine,
Winfred, Ashley, Marquis, Alex, Keyon, Nikeya, Korrine,
Sintaysha, LaShonda, Justin, Destiny, Arieanna and Jamesia;

Anna Bell James 71, departed this earthly life on Sunday, December 29, 2020 at Hampton Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.
A public viewing will be held from 6-8pm on Saturday, January 4, 2020 in the Legacy Chapel.
The celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Hope Well C.M.E. Church in Garnett at 2pm.
