~Obituary~
On Thursday, November 1, 2018, Sister Annie Lee Newton Aiken heard the call of God saying, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord, sit down servant and take thy rest.” Being obedient to the voice of God, she ceased from all labor and entered rest way. She waits for righteousness which was held in store for her.
Sister Annie was born on December 29, 1946, in Hampton, SC, to the late Florine Ruth and Mackie Newton. She attended Estill Training School. She was a member of the class of 1965. She met and later married the love of her life Mr. Verdell Aiken. To this union five beautiful and loving children were born.
Annie joined the church at an early age. She attended Goodwill Baptist Church and later moved to Sandhill Baptist Church. She was a faithful member; Mother of the Usher Board and the head cook in the kitchen. She was a member of the Guiding Light Chapter NOP #285 OES and United Order Tent, Estill Tent #174.
Annie had one sibling to precede her in death, Rose Ella Albany.
She had many hobbies that took up all her time, cooking, crocheting, quilting, sewing, knitting, dancing and most of all making people laugh and happy.
Annie leaves to cherish her memories her loving devoted husband Verdell Aiken; one daughter Polla Aiken of Estill, SC; four sons Israel (Beverly) Aiken of Varnville, SC, Isaiah (Christine) Aiken of Estill, SC, Toney Aiken of Covington, GA, and Don L Aiken of Estill, SC; four sisters Betty Jones of Gifford, SC, Patricia Ellis of Charlotte, NC, Helen Green of Furman, SC, Georgia Oaks, Augusta, GA; three brothers Johnnie Lee Ruth of Harrisburg, PA, Linwood (Cassandra) Ruth of Jacksonville, NC and Oscar Newton of Lena, SC; step mother Mevelyn Newton; two sisters-in-law Rose Brown of Estill, SC and Beulah Jones of Jacksonville, FL; one brother-in-law Bobby Perry of Jacksonville, FL; 5 aunts, 1 uncle, 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren that she loved with all her heart, one God child, Kristen Brantley. Special friends Helen Little, Freda Scott and Minnie Devore, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and dear friends.

Annie Aiken, of Estill SC, departed this earthly life on Thursday November 1, 2018 at Hampton Regional Medical Center. 

A public viewing  will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Legacy Chapel. 

All relatives and friends are invited to attend her celebration of Life on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Sandhill Baptist Church, 125 Hill Street Garnett, SC. 

Interment : Church Cemetery
