James Kearse departed this life and entered into eternal life on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. He was born on May 11, 1953 to the late Clarence Kearse and Helen Wright Kearse. James, known to most of his friends as “Baby”, had a charming personality. He was a people person who was loved and admired by many friends.
James attended the Estill Training School in Estill, South Carolina. At an early age he joined Sweetrose Baptist Church. He then moved to Connecticut as a young man, where he took on many jobs until 1980. At this time he gained employment with the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation where he worked for 26 years, a job he loved and enjoyed doing. Once moving to Norwalk he became a member of St. Paul Church of God in Christ, Norwalk, CT.
He loved above all his family, traveling to South Carolina was a joy to him. One he looked forward to every year or chance he had. James had many friends he cared deeply for. One of his favorite past times was playing a friendly hand of spades with his buddies.
He leaves to cherish in his memory: his loving and devoted wife, also his caretaker, Rachel Kearse; three sons, James Futrell of Texas, Thavaris Bynum of Norwalk, CT, and Chavaris (Terri) Bynum of Stamford, CT; siblings, Leola (Hubert) Burgess, Linda (Eugene) Gordon and Shirley Gillison of Estill, SC, Brenda (Alexander) Johnson and Carolyn Gillison of Norwalk, CT and Anthony Gillison of Bronx, NY. A host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11am @ Sweetrose Baptist Church.
Interment will be held at : Sweetrose Baptist Church
