Mr. Lawrence Edwin Ferrell was born August 23, 1961 to the late
Martha Williams Ferrell and Roosevelt Ferrell in Philadelphia, PA.
The family later moved to Longside, NJ where Larry became a
member of Pisgah AME Church. He was a member of the youth
choir. In his teen years, the family relocated to Pineland, South
Carolina.
Larry attended Longside Elementary School in Longside, NJ. He
graduated in 1979 from Ridgeland High School in Ridgeland, SC.
Larry was a tool & die expert while employed at Fort Howard in
Rincon, GA and Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, GA.
Larry loved life and his daily proclamation was, “I’m living my best
life.” He also loved his family and traveling. He was a jokester and
always had a story to bring laughter to the entire room. Philadelphia
Eagles number 1 fan.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Ferrell Sr.
On Sunday, March 31, 2019, Larry transitioned at home to his eternal
rest. Larry will be lovingly remembered by his two sons, “LJ”
Lawrence Ferrell Jr. of Hilton Head Island, SC and “Reese” Maurice
Lawrence Ferrell of Savannah, GA; one granddaughter, Esme Lauren
Ferrell; one brother, Vincent (Brenda) Ferrell of Baltimore, MD; two
sisters, Valerie Burgess of Pineland, SC and Roslyn Ferrell of
Hardeeville, SC. Larry will also be fondly remembered by his
blended family: Ashley Matthews, Reginald Boscom Jr., Chloe Jest,
and Eva Edwards; goddaughters, Jasmine Lawrence and London
Youmans. A host of nieces, nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles,
cousins, and friends. LJ’s mother, Sherry White; special friend,
Melissa Young; and former wife of 8 years, Tammy Lawrence
Ferrell.
