Carrie Bell (Gadson) Cochran 78, the daughter of the late Perry and
Lillian Gadson. She was born August 12, 1941 in Tarboro, S.C. She
was six of ten children. Carrie was raised as a farm girl. She was
educated in the public schools of Jasper County. At an early age she
became a member of St. Mary Baptist Church. When she became of
age she moved to New York City, and then later to West Palm Beach,
FL. where she held a variety of jobs. Carrie was joined in holy
matrimony to George Cochran on December 23, 1970 after moving
back to Tarboro, SC. Carrie loved to entertain family and friends with
a card games. She loved to fish and kept a plentiful garden. Carrie
opened her home up to be a safe haven and welcomed those in need,
always having a hot meal to give when needed. She also held bible
study in her home. She was well known and loved throughout the
community.
Carrie was surrounded by her loving family when she answered the
Masters call on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Perry and Lillian Gadson,
her siblings: Perry Gadson Jr, Oscar Gadson, Richard Brown, and Lee
Gadson, Mary (Gadson) Phillips and (son) nephew: Richard “Jeff”
Gadson
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Bishop: Larry L.
Gadson, Elder: Carlos J. Cochran, Sr. of Colorado Springs, CO,
Samantha L. Cochran of Greenville, SC, and Perry “Clem” Robbins of
Lake, FL; Husband: George Cochran of Savannah, GA; Four brothers:
Johnny Gadson, John Gadson, Isaiah Gadson and Apostle: Clarence
Gadson and one sister Annie L. Gadson. Ten grandchildren: Juanita R.
Gadson , La’Monica L. Gadson, Carlos J. Cochran Jr, Caleb Cochran
of Colorado Springs, CO; Danielle Cochran of Dallas, TX; Ryan S.
Ferrell, Shawnta’ Jones, Tevin Jones, Kevin Jones of Greenville, SC;
Gefforey Gadson of Pineland, SC. Four great grandchildren: Kyndall
Cochran, Carlos Cochran III of Colorado Springs, CO, Justin Grant,
and Braylon Simmons of Greenville, SC. Along with a host of nieces,
Carrie Bell Cochran 78, of Tarboro passed away surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at St. Mary Baptist church at 11:00 a.m. in Tarboro SC.
A public Viewing will be held Friday, February 7, 2020 in the Legacy Chapel from 5-7 p.m.
