Derrick Bernard Riley, the son of Marie A. Anderson Riley and Thomas L. Riley, Jr was born on September 7, 1977 in Ridgeland, South Carolina.
Derrick grew up in Hardeeville, South Carolina with his parents and attended Jasper County High School. He was a food service professional Meat Cutter, employed at Piggly Wiggly in Ridgeland, SC; and was a Dairy Department Manager at the Hardeeville Walmart in Hardeeville, SC for 14 years.
Derrick is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Louise Anderson; and his paternal grandparents, Thomas Lee Riley and Verna Mae Riley; aunt, Lisa Anderson; uncles, John Anderson Jr., Timothy Anderson, Tony Anderson, Clarence Terry Cuyler and James Levan Allen.
On Tuesday, December 20, 2022, Derrick left his earthly home for his eternal home.
Derrick leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Shannon LaFaye Riley, Beaufort, SC; three sons, Omari Franklin, Derrick B. Riley II and Saieed Riley, all of Beaufort, SC; two daughters, Iyana Riley and Aniya Riley, both of Beaufort, SC; his mother, Marie A. Anderson Riley, of Ridgeland, SC; his father, Thomas L. Riley, Jr, of Early Branch, SC; five brothers, Thomas (Stacey) Riley and Michael Riley, both of Ridgeland, SC, Louis (TaShawna) Washington, of Estill, SC, Demetrius Riley and Dashawn Riley, both of Tarboro, SC; four sisters, Ashley (Jamaal) Riley, of Ridgeland, SC, Crystal (Janice) Riley, of Villa Rica, GA, Makayla Riley and Alaysia Riley, both of Tarboro, SC; aunts, Linda Simmons, of Augusta, GA, Johnnie Mae Anderson and Louquetta Anderson, both of Ridgeland, SC, Terri Riley Williamson and Shawna (Jordan) Jinks, of Yemassee, SC, Elouise Anderson and Romona (Kenneth) Brayboy, both of Ridgeland, SC, Apostle Delphine Riley Poteat, Donna Louise Brown, Thomasina Davis Clay and Lillie Mae Clark; nine nieces and three nephews.
