James Richard Riley

Brother James Richard Riley was the son of Thomas Lee Riley and Verna Mae Riley. He was the 6th child of 9 children. James Richard was born May 17, 1957 in Jasper County, South Carolina. At an early age, he attended church with Elder Thomas Lee Riley, Sr., his loving and devoted father.
James Richard graduated from West Hardeeville High School; then onto receiving many certifications. He became a security police for the Hyatt/Marriott for over 30 years. After retiring, James Richard loved traveling. He traveled to many various countries. Our dear brother transitioned from earth to glory on May 25, 2023 at his residence in Ridgeland, SC with singing and praying at his bedside.
James Richard was preceded in death by his daughter Luanda J. Riley, a brother James Levan Allen and both parents, Thomas Lee and Verna Mae Riley.
James leaves to cherish his memories: his children: Niama (Vondrei) Eason (Screven County, GA); Jaletta Maynor (Savannah, GA); Jalyn Maynor (Savannah, GA); James Richard (Kwajalein) Riley, Jr. (Macon, GA); Andre Gardner (Bluffton, SC); And a very significant and valued special friend, Ms. Carolyn Maynor (Savannah, GA). He leaves 18 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
James Richard’s siblings include his four sisters: Lillie Mae Clark (Hampton, SC); Donna L Brown (Leon) (Hardeeville, SC); Thomasina Davis Clay (Jersey City, NJ); Dr. Delphine Riley-Poteat (Rincon, GA); four brothers: Thomas Lee Riley Jr. (Early Branch, SC); Charles Anthony Riley (Cathy) (Atlanta, GA); Linrod Riley Sr. (Kelly) (Hardeeville, SC); and Bennett Hodge Jr. (Desiree) (Hardeeville, SC); four special aunts: Lucille Allen (Camden, SC); Della Allen (Bronx, NY); Ella Mae Riley (Hardeeville, SC); Vernese Kelly (Hardeeville, SC); three uncles: Ellison Lee Riley (Ruby) (Pensacola, FL); Wilbur Riley (San Diego, CA); J Adolph Riley (Cathy) (Hardeeville, SC); and Dan Frazier of Bishopville, SC. Three special friends: Ms. Nell Fields, Brother Tracy Holman and Ms. Helen Ferebee, a devoted and caring sister-in-law Kelly Riley. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

James Riley 66 of Ridgeland, SC passed away on May 26, 2023.
