Joanne Gordon

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Whosoever

Joanne Hutchinson was born on June 20, 1956, in Hampton County,
South Carolina. She was the second child born to the late Joseph
and Lillie Mae Hutchinson. Gal, as she was fondly called by her
family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Hampton
County and graduated from Estill High School.
Joanne married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart,
Larry Darnell Gordon. They were married for 46 years. Joanne will
always be remembered for her love of cooking those delicious meals
and her famous desserts. Joanne and Larry were blessed with five
children. Kendrick, Lillian, David, and Larry. Her eldest son,
Comesee preceded her in death.
Joanne joined St. Luke AME Church at an early age. She was
employed at Hampton School District II in the Food Service
Department, for nearly 20 years. After leaving Hampton School
District II, her journey took her to Jasper County Board of
Disabilities and Special Needs, where she worked as a Mental
Retardation Specialist.
Those left to carry her legacy and memories are her living and
devoted husband, Larry Darnell Gordon of the home; her children,
Kendrick Gordon, Lillian Gordon-Smith (Jessie), Larry Gordon and
Victwanna Peart, all of Estill, SC, David Gordon of Bluffton, SC and
Jermaine Lott of New Jersey; two grandchildren, Rayqwan Gordon
of Greenville, SC and Daviyah Gordon of Estill, SC; god-daughter,
Zakia Glenn of Estill, SC; siblings, Harry Hutchinson (Sarah),
Thomas Henry Hutchinson (Joann) and Christine Mitchell, all of
Estill, SC; aunts, Betty O’Banner, Patricia Brown, Mary S.
Hutchinson, Curlia Hutchinson, all of Estill, SC; Wanda O’Banner
of Brunson, and Mary Reid of Rivershill, SC; uncles, James
O’Banner, Jimmy O’Banner (Cheryl), Arthur Green, and Wilbert
Gordon, all of Estill, SC, children raised in the home, Iyanna,
Quinton, Quintashia, and Kenneth; sister-in-law, Joan Lott, of
Yemassee, SC, Elease Lott, of Philadelphia, PA, Gloria Gordon and
Deloris Lott of New Jersey and Gussie Mae Lott of Aiken, SC; and
brother-in-law, Melvin Gordon of Allendale, SC.
Joanne always took her cousin, Mary H. Glenn as her sister. She
leaves a host of other loving relatives and friends. She would be
greatly missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Joanne Gordon, 65, of Estill SC, departed this earthly life on Friday, July 16, 2021, at Hampton Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. 
Family and friends are invited to attend service for Mrs. Joanne Gordon  Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Sweet Rose Baptist Church cemetery located at Grass Hill road, Lena,SC.

A public viewing will be at Legacy Funeral Home on Friday, July 23, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
