Obituary
Deacon Leroy Polite, Sr. was born May 19, 1953 to the late Willie and Janie Lee Nix Polite. God called him into eternal rest on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Effingham County Hospital.
At an early age he became a member of the Solomon Temple COGIC of Robertville, SC where he served faithfully until his death. He served in the capacities of Chairman of the Deacon Board (2008-2018) and Vice President of the Trustee Board. He also served as President of YPWW for 16 years, Sunday school teacher, worked with the church food pantry, a guitar player and church musician. In the community, Leroy was the lead guitar player for the Mighty Goldenaires for more than 40 years. And he will be remembered by many for selling fish and watermelon.
He was educated in the public schools of Jasper County and was employed in his adult life at Savannah River Site, formally known as Dupont/Westinhouse/Savannah River Plant. He worked there for 35 years and retired in 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, William Nix, Gerald Polite, Avon Polite, Nelson Polite and his sister, Ella McCloud.
He was united in holy matrimony to Barbara M. Polite on May 17, 1997. They remained married up until his final transition. He will be remembered affectionately as her “Roy”.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Barbara M. Polite; daughters, Mishelle (G. Lydell) Mungin, of Luray, SC, Voneka Polite, of Jacksonville, FL, Robin (Eddie) Housey, Kim Cardwell and one son, Leroy (Cassandra) Polite, Jr. of Hampton, SC; His surviving siblings are Willie (Alice) Polite, Gussie (Louretha) Polite, and Henry (Ella) Polite, all of Bridgeport, CT.,18 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, a special brother-in-law, Rodney T. Housey, a special niece, Faith Washington, a special granddaughter, Isabella Young, and a very special Goddaughter, Shateria Albright-Mack. He also leaves to remember his loud, contagious laughter and gentle soul, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

A public viewing will be Friday, August 31, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Solomon Temple COGIC in Robertsville, SC

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 11 a.m. at Open Arm Fellowship Hampton, SC

Burial:  Solomon Temple COGIC Cemetery
