Mark Holmes

Obituary
Mark Holmes was born in Patterson, New Jersey on September 17, 1970, to the late Benjamin Gadson Sr., and Marian Williams. He was reared in the home of his grandparents the late Frank and Ruby Holmes.
He attended and graduated from Estill High School, “Class of 1989”. It was there that he met his future wife, Thelma Jones, whom he was united in holy matrimony, on August 6, 1993. To this union, they were blessed with three loving children; Markeshia, Kristen, and Mark, Jr.
In 1989, Mark enlisted in the Army National Guard serving faithfully for twenty-one years until retiring at the rank of Sergeant. He continued his federal service and as a Production Controller at the Fleet Readiness Center. He continued his education and completed all of his academic requirements and obtained an Associate of Arts Degree.
Mark touched many lives during his tenure here on earth and his memories will live on in the hearts of many who knew him and loved him. It was on July 7th, 2021, God decided he needed a special person to complete a mission and for this purpose, Mark was chosen. God being too wise to make a mistake and too just to do wrong, summoned him to eternal rest.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma J. Holmes; his children, Markeshia (Isaac) Newby, Kristen and Mark Holmes, Jr; two grandchildren, Aria Newby and Kamari J. Holmes; siblings, Beverly (Eddie) Miller, Darlene (David) Ledwell, Benjamin (Chudney) Gadson, Jr, Dwayne (Debra) Gadson, Pretrena Ingram, Christina (Isaac) Riley, Michelle Gadson, Kemberly Boddie, Anthony Williams, Angel Williams and Ashley (James) Williams, Jr; mother-in-law, Beulah (Tracye) Dennis; sisters-in-law, Sharon D. Brantley, Katrina (Edward) Peake; brothers-in-law, Winfred (Janet) Jones and Ron (Charlene) Jones; uncles and aunts, Benny (Rose) Holmes, Robert (Dale) Holmes, Annie (Alex) Gardner, Nathaniel (Janice) Holmes, Charles Holmes, Rosemary (Almay) Wilson, Jake (Vivian) Holmes, George Holmes, Dorothy Wesley, and Anthony Gadson; grand-uncle, John (Wilma) Gadson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and very special friends.

Mark Jeffery Holmes, 50 of Orange Park, Florida gained his eternal salvation and has joined the heavenly army of the Lord.

Funeral arrangements for Mr. Holmes will be held Sunday, July 25, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Estill High School football field. A public viewing will be held an hour before the service.
