Mrs. Rose Mae Jenkins, affectionately known as Mae was born on November 4, 1949, in Hampton County, South Carolina, to the late John Edwards Forrester Sr. and Sarah Hutchinson Forrester Davis. On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, God called Mae home to take her eternal rest. She was a faithful member of St. Luke A.M.E. Church, now Williams Chapel, A.M.E for many years. Mae received her education in Estill County School Systems. She worked several jobs, to include, the Sewing Factory in Estill SC, M and M Cleaning in Hilton Head SC Walmart in Hardeeville SC and Best Manufacturing Company in Allendale, SC, which is where she retired. Mae met her beloved husband, Robert Jenkins while they both attended Estill High School. They were united in Holy matrimony on February 20, 1966. In this union six children were born; one child died after birth, Robert Jenkins, III. Mae was a loving wife, devoted mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a member of the Guiding Light Chapter 285, Order of the Eastern Star. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory three daughters: Barbara (Keith) Mitchell, Melbourne FL, Lynda (Michael) Edwards, Columbia, SC and Shawmekia Jenkins, Spartanburg SC; two sons, George (Lisa) Jenkins, Colorado Springs, CO and La Mario Jenkins, Estill, SC; one sister, Lucille Bostick; one brother, Ronnie (Martha) Devore, Savannah GA; six sisters-in-law: Lucille Forrester, Estill SC, Annie Warren (Paul) Estill, SC, Kathy Gregley, Estill, SC, Mary Thomas, Appleton, SC. Beatrice Graydon, Sarasota FL, and Hattie Johnson, Sarasota, FL; two brothers-in-law, Samuel Orr, Estill, SC and Johnnie Lee Hill (Carol), Estill, SC and a host of loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sympathizing friends.
Rose Mae Jenkins 72, of Estill SC, departed this earthly life to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Lexington Medical Center.
A Celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, December 23rd 2pm in the chapel of Legacy funeral home. There will be a 1hr. viewing prior to the service.
