William White, known to many as ”Soul” was born to the late
Oregon White, Sr. and Missionary Lubertha Brown White on
November 18, 1952, in Hampton , South Carolina. He made his
transition on Friday, September 25, 2020, at the Regional Medical
Center in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
He was educated in the public schools of Estill, SC, where he
graduated with the class of 1972. He was employed with Great Dane
Trailers of Savannah, Georgia, until his retirement.
The soul was full of life with a tenacious spirit and an infectious laugh
that could light up a room. To love him, was to know him and once
he started talking it was hard to get him to stop; especially when it
came to sports, particularly “Football”. For many years, he served as
the community coach for softball. Soul was passionate about many
things; the love he had for his family, especially his mother and
cooking/grilling. He enjoyed music and attending church; he was a
member of Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Church of Scotia, SC, where he
served as a Trustee, Steward and Class Leader.
He was joined in holy matrimony to Ms. Carolyn Fields on June 21,
2017.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Mrs. Carolyn A.
White, of the home; son, Darien Johnson of Ridgeland, SC; raised a
as a daughter, Daphne Bowman, of Orangeburg, SC; six grandchildren;
Krishe’na, Da’Mari, Ky’Morah, Darien, Jr, Da’Najah and Nysair;
three great-granddaughters; Trinity, Kia, and Jakyla; others
respected as children; Andarrio and A.J. Johnson, both of Charlotte,
NC and Ricky Ruth, of Estill, SC; mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Ann
Fields, of Estill, SC; one sister, Michelle( Sammie) Ling, of Estill, SC;
four brothers, Oregon Jr., Robert Lee, and Maurice White, all of
Estill, SC, and Earl (Ella) White, of Scotia, SC; special cousin raised
as a brother, Charlie Taylor, of Estill, SC; two
sisters- in- law, Evone (Donnell) Fields, of
Scotia, SC, Linda (Richard) Fields of Estill,
SC; four brothers-in-law, Ernest Housey, of
Estill, SC, Raymond Brunson of Hampton,
SC, John (Cattie) Fields, of Lena, SC, Henry
Fields of Estill, SC; three aunts, Rosa Mae
Brown of Lena, SC, Eva Penn, of Furman, SC
and Nora Brown, of Estill, SC. A host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Three
special friends, like sisters; Diane Roberts,
Cynthia Ervin and Shirley Johnson.
William White of Estill, SC departed his earthly home on September 25, 2020.
A public viewing will be held from 5-7 PM in the Legacy Chapel
Funeral service will be held Thursday @ 11 AM Mt. Pleasent in Scotia.
